Hello forum! Your favourite blogger is back, and has a bit of a writer's block (you know, world crisis, credit card rules in the US,last Dylan album) To hide my unproductive mood, I've decided to make up a creative workaround. I'm writing about what the hell is twitter and it's REAL uses. How does twitter REALLY improve our daily life? Is Twitter indispensable? How do you monetize Twitter? I want to build my article from all the kind and wise words all of you have to say about the subject. Don't tell me just straight facts from wikipedia...I would like to know your personal experiences from using twitter and what you've got out from it. The best comments are going to be quoted inside the article, so I expect some gems from all of you. If you guys like the idea I guess we could implement this kind of multi brainstorming for other articles as well. EVERYTHING ON DEMAND ONLY FOR YOU FOLKS! ICONSHOCK STYLE! Good luck to all.

I'm not good with communication. I'm actually way better here than i am with email or texting or facebook, but my friends get antsy about where i am and what i'm doing so while they dont follow me, they do check my site to see where i am and what i'm up to. So I like it because it's like sending out a mass text message of what's on your mind and what's going on with you so people can have their update and then call you with a subject in mind. |

I wouldn't say that Twitter is indespensible, BUT, I will say that it is a GREAT social networking tool. I also use it to read news and sports. I use a third party client (TweetDeck) and I organize tweets into channels basically. I have a news channel, sports, technology (programming friends), detroit (#+Detroit), and last but not least #Iconshock! Yes, my tweeps here get their OWN channel! |

How Twitter affects my daily life.
Twitter for me is an infinite social experiment that we can all participate in and be
an active part of, whether we are at home, the office, or on the road. No
Tweeting while driving!
As someone that wants to know the latest, Twitter has provided me with breaking
news! I use it for my daily commute to work! Joining certain groups allows me
to know just what route is clear and where there are problems.
It has expanded my personal and professional network of friends and colleagues;
some of these relationships will last a lifetime.
I connect with people all over the world. I communicate daily with church
members in the United States, Australia, Sweden, Germany, Scotland, United
Kingdom, Canada, South America, and many other countries.
I know much more about friends of mine on Twitter than friends on Facebook. Or
in real life for that matter. I know who’s having a shitty day and who’s not.
Who’s in a playful mood and who’s drinking and who’s working. I don’t know
who’s getting laid, but give it time.
It means I become a participant in my friends lives occasionally even if that
participation is just Greg getting a cup of coffee.
On the other hand shooting a few 140 character updates doesn’t take time out of
the day, and once you start using twitter actually enhances the day. It enhances
it because of the interaction between twitters.
And because it’s non time consuming (I can wack out 140 chars in a few seconds)
and I can use it anywhere and any time it’s a running constant in my life.
Which reminds me...I've got to put up a tweet about this blog post!

Also, I am part of the Twitter Team at work. It is 1 account that is share between 3 departments and 5 people. We rotate weeks, and try to keep it corporate sounding, though I think some people are making it individualized, and I have the feeling that is going to be weird at some point. We don't really use it to promote product, but do use it as a communication tool and to hopefully drive traffic to our website. I think we are doing pretty good, it has only been a little over a month, and we are already approaching 400 followers. |

Here are a couple of things that I am involved in with Twitter. I incorporated a blog tweeter (TweetSuite actually) so that when I post a new blog entry, it automatically posts it to my twitter account. It also includes a Tweet This link on the blog post. I don't know if that actually has increased any traffic to my blog or not, but hey 1 additional visitor is 1 additional visitor. |

Personally, even if I'm just a recent user, it seems to me that Twitter is just a little bit more convenient way (with its downsides too) to do things that were already possible years ago. If there wasn't a Firefox extension for it, I wouldn't probably use it that much... Twitter is like a chat client combined with an RSS feed. Useful... And overwhelming too... |
