To modify a vector icon you will probably need some vector editing software like Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw or some other program.
However theese programs save png files, but not ico files. You would need another program to convert to ICO format. |

Yes its very possible. I several different wares to do this with. The 2 I use the most is ms paint and photoshop. The thing about potoshop is you can record the action on the first icon then batch resize a whole folder. Makes short work for a theme.
I dont know if you have PS so I'll cover using ms paint.Whatcha wanna do is, locate the icons you want to resize. Make you a new folder and name it something you like. Open paint and drag 1st icon into paint. Open image tab the resize/skew. you see the % input fields. Your talking about inlarging so lets say your icon is 250x250. If you put in 200% in input field for width and highth then ok now your icon is 500x500. Open file tab then "Save as" put in your new folder. You have to do this with ever icon.you can see you customize the size to whatever size.
I hope this helps. |

Sven, thanks for the info, I'm one of those diehard users of the last system I know best so I delay going to the new ones well after they've been out, LOL. I don't embrace changes to my operating system no matter how much they tell me the latest is the greatest ;-) |

Sherwood, Windows 2003 behaves the same way Windows XP does, at least concerning this matter, so there should be no difference. |

bethvelho, I think I understand that you want to change the yellow folder icons in windows explorer on your "C" drive, the ones that are personal like "My Music", "My Documents", "My Pictures", etc? I am running Windows XP and these icons from IconShock are quite large. I wish I could show you a screen shot but it's impossible to do that here. At any rate, Sven is correct in that when you download the icons from here and unzip or unrar them, you will have various sizes to choose from, browse to the icon you want to use and then select either the 32X32 or the 128X128 size and they should be as you see them here. I don't have windows 2003 so I can't help you with that system. The only other thing I could think of is your resolution setting in the "Display Property box" If this doesn't help you, you can e-mail me at pspr05@yahoo.com and I will try and help you that way. Thanks! |

So, which icons did you try exactly and which size? Because when you open the zip file, there are different sizes. |

I´ll try to explain. At the windows explorer, where we have all files (ex: C: computer, Downloded archives; my images and athers with an yellow icon, I use to change with icons that I download in the net. But all icons here are too small to see. When I change the icons seems to be a colored "blot" , something without shape! |

Hello bethvelho, technically the desktop is just another explorer window, but besides that, perhaps you should describe exactly what you are trying to do. Are you talking about a specific folder or file or icons in general? Do you want to change the standard icon for a specific file type? |

Sherwood, I tried it is not what I want. The icons the you mentioned are the ones at the desktop and I want to change them at the Windows Explorer, where we wave all files. I like to change these icons and the ones we have here are too small to be used there...

Hi Bethvelho, good to see you, I'm afraid it depends on which operating system you are using. If you are using Win Xp, 98 or later you can only use Icons that are 32X32, if you are using Vista or Win 7 You can use the .PNG files, which are 256X256 and much larger. Otherwise, the only thing I can think of is to try right clicking on your start buttn, click on properties, click on start menu, click on customize, click on advanced and then click on "Use Large Icons". Hope this helps you hon. Good luck |

I mean bigger icons to be used at the Windows Explorer. I like to change them and the icons are too small... Just a little bit bigger... For example: I tried to use Nemo but the icon is so small that we can only see an orange spot...
